In October 2004 all residential mortgages, excluding Buy-to-Let properties,
became regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA).
This Regulation has affected the way that borrowers receive advice and information
relating to mortgage products. It should now be possible for you to be able to
make comparisons between similar products offered by different lenders.
Whether you are an existing member of the Society applying for additional
borrowing or are contacting Harpenden Building Society for the first time, you
will receive the following documentation:
Initial Disclosure Document (IDD):
This will explain to you the type of service we are providing. We will be pleased
to supply you with information about Harpenden Building Society's mortgages
but do not give advice.
Key Facts Illustration (KFI):
You will be given a copy of this personalised illustration when you either enquire
about, or choose, one of the Society's mortgage products. This illustration will
provide you with all the information necessary for you to make a decision on
the right product for you. It will contain information covering the terms and
conditions of your chosen product, the current rate, term of years and any
other features.
We are still able to continue to offer all our members a truly personalised
mortgage product and will "tailor" any of our standard mortgages to suit your own individual requirements.
YOUR HOME MAY BE REPOSSESSED IF YOU DO NOT KEEP UP REPAYMENTS ON YOUR MORTGAGE.
The Society is authorised and regulated by the
